A bad Christmas gift to you could be a treasure to someone else.

Receive a Flowbee from your aunt this Christmas?  Perhaps a Barbie from the grandfather who thinks you will always be eight years old?  (That one actually happened to me when I was 19.  Let’s talk about it.)  It is amazing how many awesomely bad gifts are out there.  It is even more amazing that someone might actually want that gift!

Instead of chunking that garden gnome or McDonalds VHS out the window, you do have options.  You can always regift, but that can be tricky.  Unless you know that someone will really want that gift, be careful.  The original gift giver could find out you gave it away and could get their feelings hurt.  Or the person you regift it to might hate it as well and that puts you at risk for getting it back next year.

The best thing to do with a horrible gift is post it for sale online.  You may not love that Flowbee, but a woman with a long haired dog might really enjoy it.  Just think, you could actually get money for that thing!  You can think of it as payment for having to endure the shame of opening it up in front of your entire family.  Just remember that it may be a horrible gift to you, but it might be the perfect gift for someone else.

What is the worst gift you’ve ever gotten?
